They weren’t even supposed to get this far in the competition. Now they’re here, they will want to make it count. So, in our latest CFL betting picks, we look at their chances of causing another shock in the final this weekend at Tim Hortons Field.

  • What; 2023 CFL Grey Cup Final
  • Who; Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Montreal Alouettes
  • Where; Tim Hortons Field, Hamilton, Canada
  • When; Sunday, November 19th, 2023
  • Time; 6 pm ET

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have reached the last three Grey Cup finals, winning two but losing one to the Toronto Argonauts last year. They are looking to regain the trophy this Sunday against a Montreal Alouettes team who last won the Grey Cup in 2010, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in what was the seventh win in their history.

Betting to win the 2023 Grey Cup

This will be the 110th Grey Cup final. The new favorites to win are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after the Toronto Argonauts were sensationally knocked out last weekend. The Blue Bombers are -380 to win the trophy again. Conquerors of the Argonauts, the Montreal Alouettes are +310 to win the Grey Cup.

In the match betting, the handicap spread is 8.5 points. The Blue Bombers are -110 to win and cover the spread. The Alouettes are -110 to win with the spread.

Finally, the total points market is -110 for over 47.5 and -110 for under 47.5. In the two Division Finals last weekend, that total was well under in the Blue Bombers against the Lions. But it was beaten in the match between the Argonauts and the Alouettes.

These odds are from the best 2023 NFL betting sites, which also cover all the CFL matches. You will also find odds on offer for all the best competitions to bet on in 2023 at these sportsbooks.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers had a 14-4 record in the West Division. They were nowhere near as dominant as the Argonauts were in the East, finishing with just two more wins than the BC Lions (12-6).

It has to be said that the Blue Bombers made light work of the Lions last weekend. They got ahead in the first quarter and then put their foot down in the second to have an 18-10 lead at the halfway stage. A tight third quarter followed that saw a brief fightback from the Lions, but in the end, BC didn’t have enough to pull the game back, and the Bombers made the final for a record 28th time.

In total, the Blue Bombers are now 15-4 this season and on a winning streak of five. This could be an ominous sign for the Alouettes.

Montreal Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes are 13-7 this season. In the regular season, they finished second to the Argonauts in the East Division. The Alouettes had an 11-7 record. Toronto topped the table with a 16-2 record. As a result, the Argonauts entered the postseason as the favorites to win both the East Division Championship game and the Grey Cup.

The gulf in class was supposed to be too big for Montreal to overcome. This was supported by the betting sites. In last weekend’s match against the Toronto Argonauts, the Alouettes were +500 to win. They were also +900 to win the Grey Cup. This weekend, Montreal is again the outsiders. Can they pull another result out of the hat one last time this season?

Our Grey Cup Final Betting Picks

Winnipeg has the edge heading into this match-up. Of that, there can be no doubt. A number of their players – including Quarterback Zach Collaros – are playing in their fourth consecutive final. This will also be the fourth final that head coach Mike O’Shea has been involved with.

For the Alouettes, this will be the first time Jason Maas has been the head coach for the final. He does have Grey Cup experience, first as a Quarterback coach for Toronto in 2012 and also as a player, having won it in 2003 and 2005 with Edmonton.

None of this seems to stack up very well for the Montreal Alouettes. As is often the case on these occasions, Montreal probably played their cup final last Saturday when they defeated the Toronto Argonauts. Teams can struggle to lift themselves again the following week, and this is what we believe will happen to the Montreal Alouettes this Sunday.

We are going with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to win the Grey Cup and cover the spread for our betting pick. We feel it will be one game too far for the Alouettes.
