In May, Olympic gold medal winner Katie Taylor fought for the first time in her home country of Ireland. The bout did not go Taylor’s way. She lost her bid to unseat Undisputed Junior Welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron on that night at the 3Arena in Dublin. The setback was the first of Taylor’s career, while Cameron kept her undefeated record intact with the 96-94, 96-94, 95-95 majority decision win. The two meet in a rematch in the same arena on November 25, 2023, in a card broadcast by DAZN pay-per-view.

Taylor (22-1 with six knockouts) defended her undisputed women’s lightweight title against Amanda Serrano in the first women’s boxing match to headline at Madison Square Garden. Taylor won that contest by split decision. She then defended her crown in October with a unanimous decision win over Karen Carabajal in London. Her attempt to dethrone Cameron came after the win over Carabajal.

Cameron (18-0, 8 KOs) became the undisputed women’s junior welterweight champion in November when she defeated Jessica McCaskill via unanimous decision in Abu Dhabi. Her victory over Taylor was her first attempted defense of her titles.

The Ring has Cameron as the No. 2 fighter in the women’s pound-for-pound ratings. Taylor checks in at No. 3.

Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor II betting picks

Katie Taylor betting breakdown

Katie Taylor has a 22-1 professional record. Before the 37-year-old fighter turned pro in 2016, Taylor has impressive amateur accolades, including a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Taylor holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. She has held the undisputed crown since June 2019, and has seven successful defenses of those titles to her name.

As Taylor ages, she has been criticized for her lack of motivation and low output. I don’t buy into the lack of motivation criticism. However, Taylor’s low output was one reason she dropped the first fight with Cameron. Taylor only attempted 284 punches (landing 111) against Cameron, down from her 375 attempts against Serrano. While it’s true that Taylor landed a higher percentage of her punches than Cameron, her low output hurt her.

Chantelle Cameron breakdown

Chantelle Cameron (18-0) fights out of England. The 32-year-old has been a professional boxer since 2017. Cameron began accumulating titles in October 2020 when she won the vacant WBC super lightweight belt. After that, she picked up the IBF and The Ring titles, eventually becoming the undisputed champ at 140 pounds with a win over Jessica McCaskill.

While Cameron has eight knockouts to her name, seven of those came in her first 10 fights. Her most recent knockout win was a May 2021 TKO victory over Melissa Hernandez.

Cameron had a much higher output than Taylor in their first matchup, throwing 565 total punches and landing 141. As for power punches, Cameron attempted 333, as compared to Taylor’s 196, landing 114 of those punches. Taylor scored with 90 of her power punches.

Best bets for Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor II

Katie Taylor and her team have to know what they need to do to beat Chantelle Cameron on November 25, but knowing and doing are two different things, and at this point I’m unsure if Taylor has what it takes to push the pace she needs to in order to get past the younger and more active Cameron. Taylor needs to up her output in a big way if she hopes to get the win in this rematch, and I don’t think she will. With that, the betting pick is for Chantelle Cameron to win the rematch via decision.

Best betting pick for Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor II: Chantelle Cameron to win via decision.
