The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season begins on February 18 with the running of the Daytona 500. The regular season runs through September 1. The Cup Playoffs start on September 8, with the final race of the year taking place in Phoenix on November 10. Last year, Ryan Blaney took home his first Cup Series Championship. Blaney drove the No. 12 Ford for Team Penske. The 30-year-old’s previous best finish was seventh, where he placed in 2019 and 2021. Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Championship winner, finished in second. William Byron and Christopher Bell placed third and fourth, respectively.

2023 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Futures

Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney is one of the early betting favorites to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. He finished the year incredibly strong, placing second, first, and second in the year’s final three races.

While Blaney did well in the playoffs, he wasn’t a dominant force in the regular season, where his only win was at the 2023 Coca-Cola 600. Further, Blaney failed to start any races in the pole position. Before his 2023 Championship win, Blaney had never broken into the top five at the end of a NASCAR season. He wrapped up the 2022 season in eighth place without winning a single race.

Blaney finished 2023 with three wins, eight top-fives and 18 top-10s. He led 562 laps throughout the season, had six stage wins, and failed to finish eight races.

Blaney is not an attractive pick to win the 2024 championship at the current betting odds.

Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson, the winner of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, placed second in 2023, following a seventh-place finish in 2022. Larson, the driver of the No. 5 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, won four races last year, including two playoff races. He was leading the playoffs after a win in Las Vegas, but a 34th-place finish at Homestead hurt his chances of winning the championship in a big way. Larson was in second place in that race when he crashed heading into pit road during the race’s final stage. He bounced back from that by finishing sixth and third in the last two competitions of the year.

Larson was one of the fastest drivers last season, and led more laps than any other driver with 1,127. He wrapped up the year by placing inside the top five 15 times and in the top 10 in 18 races. He failed to finish eight races.

The 31-year-old should be in the mix to pick up his second NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2024.

Chase Elliott

Chase Elliott‘s 2023 season was a “what if” year. The winner of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, Elliott missed six races early in the 2023 season because of injury, yet he came very close to making the cut for the playoffs. He finished the year in 17th place after wrapping up the previous two seasons in fourth place.

The 28-year-old driver of the No. 9 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, Elliott didn’t have any wins last year, but he finished in the top-five seven times and inside the top 10 on 15 occasions. He led 195 laps and had two stage wins. Elliott failed to finish three races.

Even though he was not in the playoffs last year, Elliott raced hard, finishing in the top 10 of those races five times.

If Chase Elliott can race a full season in 2023, he has a chance to pick up a second career NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

Best bet to win 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship

If Kyle Larson can race as well as he did last year during the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, then he is the man to beat when things kick off in Daytona on February 18. The betting pick is for Kyle Larson to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, but Chase Elliott’s odds are attractive as a fallback position.
