American Valorant teams begin their road to the 2024 World Championships this week in Los Angeles with the VCT Americas Kickoff. In this event, which runs through March 3, Two spots at Valorant Masters Madrid and championship points are up for grabs. Eleven teams begin the event, with those squads split into three groups for the opening stage of the tournament. The winning team from each group goes to the playoff stage, and the second-place group team moves to the play-in stage. The top team from the play-in stage joins the playoff teams.

Leviatan
Leviatan finished in fifth place in the 2023 Americas League. Only two members of that team remain on the current roster. The revamped squad is coming off a first-place finish in the Superdome 2023 event in Colombia, where they defeated FURIA Esports in the Grand Final. The team’s significant changes to its roster, picking up aspas in October, and adding current world champion from Evil Geniuses, C0M in January of this year, make the club the betting favorite for this year’s VCT: Americas Kickoff event. Another big addition to the roster is tex, who also signed in October.
Leviatan play in Group B along with 100 Thieves, LOUD, and Sentinels. They open the Group Stage against 100 Thieves.
NRG
Beginning the VCT: Americas Kickoff 2024 event in Group A, NRG, finished the 2024 Americas League in second place behind LOUD. With that placing, NRG qualified for the Masters and Champions tournaments. The squad placed fourth at the VCT 2023: Masters Tokyo tournament and 9th-12th in the Valorant Champions 2023 event. The Champions event had to be a disappointment for the team, as they did not get out of the Group Stage.
Like Leviatan, NRG made some changes to its roster bringing OpTic Gaming’s Marved into the fold in December and adding current world champions, Demon1 and Ethan, from Evil Geniuses in the same moth.
Also in Group A: Cloud9, FURIA, and MIBR. NRG opens the Group Stage against FURIA.
Sentinels
Sentinels had some hype behind them heading into 2023, but the team never got things going. They finished the 2023 Americas League in a disappointing seventh place and failed to qualify for any international events. However, the squad is coming off a first-place finish in December at the AfreecaTV tournament. So, they do have some momentum heading into the VCT: Americas Kickoff 2024 event.
The team made some roster moves ahead of the AfreecaTV event, adding johnqt and Zellsis.
Sentinels might not be one of the top two betting favorites in this tournament, but they could be a good value bet to win VCT: Americas Kickoff 2024.
