2024 Championship League Snooker

Mark Selby and John Higgins favored

Mark Selby (+300) secured his place in the Winners’ Group by defeating defending champion John Higgins and Kyren Wilson to win Group 3 back in early February. The four-time world champion is fresh off a 4-3 quarter-finals loss to  Mark Allen in the World Masters of Snooker.

John Higgins (+350) fared no better at the event, suffering a 4-0 thrashing to seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan. The Scotsman notched his 13th career maximum break in Group Five to earn a spot in the final. With his 147, the 48-year-old became the oldest player to record a maximum break in a professional tournament.

Other big names

Neil Robertson (+400) downed Kyren Wilson in the Group 4 final, putting an end to a long dry spell. The Thunder from Down Under suffered a series of early exits in recent ranking events, including the UK Championship at the end of 2023 and a Round of 16 loss at the Masters.

It took six attempts for Kyren Wilson (+400) to punch his ticket to the Winners’ Group. The world number 11 defeated China’s Pang Junxu in the Group Six final to keep his hopes for a second Championship League Snooker title alive.

Longshots

Stuart Bingham (+900) captured five consecutive matches to win Group 1 in early January. A former world and Masters champion, the 47-year-old fell to John Higgins in the 2022 Championship League Final. With nine career maximum breaks, he trails only O’Sullivan (15), Higgins (12) and Stephen Hendry (11).

Chris Wakelin (+1100) defeated both Kyren Wilson and Mark Selby for a Group 2 victory. The 2023 Shoot Out winner fell to Judd Trump in round 1 of the Players Championship. Fresh off making the 200th official 147 in snooker history, Joe O’Connor (+1100) became the last man to advance to the Winners’ Table, beating Jak Jones in the Group Seven final.

Best Bet

Mark Selby (+300) and John Higgins (+350) are the most decorated snooker players in the tournament. However, while Higgins is getting a little long in the tooth, Selby is still squarely in his prime at age 40.

We’ll take the current world number five to pay off his favorite status with a Championship League Snooker victory in Leicester.
