NFL Draft – No. 2 Overall Pick

Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels?

Drake Maye (+105) opened as the favorite at No. 2 before Jayden Daniels (+110) pulled even in recent weeks. Maye has prototypical size for the position at 6’4″, 223 pounds, however, the Josh Allen clone struggled with his decision-making and footwork at North Carolina in 2023. Daniels won the Heisman Trophy, racking up 50 combined TDs. But, the thin-framed LSU senior is almost two years older than Maye after playing five seasons of college football.

NFL executives reportedly believe Commanders GM Adam Peters is targeting J.J. McCarthy (+375). As someone who holds a 100-1 ticket on the Michigan QB, let’s hope these reports are true. However, Daniels (+110) seems Washington bound after the franchise hired OC Kliff Kingsbury, who has experience coaching fellow dual-threat star Kyler Murray.

NFL Draft – First OL Selected

Is Joe Alt a lock?

With Marvin Harrison (-650) widely expected to be the first wide receiver selected, we’ll shift our focus to another positional group. Joe Alt (-375) is favored to be the first offensive lineman taken, but Anthony Amico and Hayden Winks, two of the best draft follows on Twitter, aren’t so sure. They both took a swing on Penn State’s Olumuyiwa Fashanu (+700).

Tennessee looks like a natural landing spot for the first OL at No. 7, assuming the Chargers trade out of No. 5. And Amico’s latest mock theorized that Fashanu may be a better fit for the wide zone scheme employed by Titans head coach Brian Callahan.

NFL Draft – Team to Draft Brock Bowers

Jets favored to land star tight end

Most sportsbooks offer landing spot odds for players such as Blake Corum, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, Jayden Daniels, Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Penix Jr, Xavier Worthy and Brock Bowers, who we’ll focus on today. The Georgia Bulldogs tight end is being widely mocked to the New York Jets (+120) after the franchise shored up the WR and OL position through free agency.

However, there’s always a chance that the 6-foot-3, 243-lb Bulldog falls down the board due to the sordid history of highly-drafted tight ends. Kyle Pitts and Eric Ebron anyone?!

Best Longshots for Bowers

Chicago (+850) seems intent on surrounding Caleb Williams with talent and already added Keenan Allen via trade. With their offensive line and defense in relatively good shape, the Bears could put their offense into super-drive by drafting Bowers.

The LA Rams (+2500) pick in the first round for the first time since 2016. While replacing Aaron Donald will be a priority, they found 2023 Defensive Player of the Year nominee Kobie Turner in the third round last year. Les Snead also grabbed Puka Nacua in the fifth. With the ability to unearth diamonds in the rough later in the draft, perhaps the Rams use pick no. 19 on a new play thing for Sean McVay.
