Golf made its glorious return to the Olympic program at Rio 2016 and returned for Tokyo 2020. This year’s field includes 15 of the top men’s players in the world, with a limit of four players from any given nation.

Who will take home the gold medal in Paris this summer? Before we look at the odds and make our picks, check out the top Golf betting sites in 2024 and find our British Open 2024 Betting Tips.

Men’s Golf Gold Medal Winner

Scheffler favored in Paris

Scottie Scheffler (+400) has won the past two Masters’ green jackets. The 27-year-old has been tearing up the PGA tour in 2024 with six wins in 10 starts. Earlier this year, he matched Tiger Woods’ 2007-08 campaign with an impressive streak of 11 consecutive top-10 finishes.

Following his victory at last week’s Travelers Championship, the world No. 1 became the fastest player to earn six wins in a season since Arnold Palmer in 1962.

Who else in on Team USA?

Xander Schauffele (+900) captured gold at Tokyo 2020. After earning his first major title earlier this year, the 2024 PGA Championship, the 30-year-old is a strong bet to repeat.

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa (+1200) and 2023 U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark (+3300) are the other two Americans in the field.

Can Rory rebound?

Rory McIlroy (+900) is a fresh off a devastating runner up finish at the US Open after blowing a two-shot lead in the last five holes. The Irishman just missed out on a bronze medal in Tokyo, coming up short in a seven-way playoff.

Ludvig Aberg (+1200) is one of the brightest young stars in golf. With few flaws in his game, the 24-year-old Swede placed second at the 2024 Masters and led the U.S. Open after 36 holes.

Other notables

Viktor Hovland (+1600) is near the top of the list of best golfers who’ve never won a major. After finishing third at this year’s PGA Championship, the 26-year-old Norwegian has four top-10 finishes in majors in the last three years.

Hideki Matsuyama (+2000) of Japan is a former Masters champion and a nine-time PGA TOUR winner.

Jon Rahm (+2000) captured the 2021 U.S. Open and the 2023 Masters, but the LIV golfer hasn’t fared well in majors this year. The Spaniard tied for 45th at the Masters, missed the cut at the PGA Championship and withdrew at Pinehurst.

Tommy Fleetwood (+2800) of England won the European Tour’s Open de France at Le Golf National back in 2017.

Best Bets

While his odds are short, Scottie Scheffler (+400) is playing like Tiger Woods in his prime. With six victories already under his belt this season, expect the American to add an Olympic gold medal to his trophy case.
