A special police division tasked with investigating narcotics, gambling, and organized crime in the Western Connecticut city of Norwalk this week arrested a high-profile Mexican cocaine dealer and seized several illegal gambling machines.

The arrest of the “founder of the violent Mexico-based Los Vagos Gang” came after Norwalk Police Special Services Division executed search, seizure, and federal arrest warrants on Cocchia’s Liquor Store. The Norwalk, CT Police Department took to X Thursday to share details of the bust following a tip a male named “Felix” was dealing large amounts of cocaine from there:
Felix Galindo-Castillo, alias “Cocchie,” had an active New York federal arrest warrant for illegal re-entry into the US. After his arrest, the court set the Fugitive from Justice bond for Galindo-Castillo, 48, at $1m.
According to a Norwalk CTPD release, multiple bags of cocaine were found in the walk-in beer cooler, as well as in the possession of Galindo-Castillo and another man. While searching the store, Special Services officers discovered around $4,932 in in seven illegal gambling machines and hidden in various liquor boxes at Cocchia’s.
According to Police Sergeant Ryan Evarts, the illegal gambling machines pay out cash that customers collect from the front desk via a receipt ticket printed out from devices.
Galindo-Castillo’s charges, meanwhile, include the illegal re-entry into the US, “sale of a narcotics, conspiracy to commit/sale of narcotics, possession of narcotics, conspiracy to commit/possession of narcotics.” He is set to appear in court on August 21.
