  • Aryna Sabalenka (+300) and Iga Swiatek (+310) are co-favored to win the U.S. Open women’s singles title
  • Coco Gauff (+550), Naomi Osaka (+600) and Elena Rybakina (+650) are in contention for the year’s last major
  • The 2024 U.S. Open takes place in Flushing Meadows, New York from August 26 to September 8, 2024

Coco Gauff is looking to become the first woman to repeat as U.S. Open champion since Serena Williams a decade ago. However, it won’t be easy with No. 1 ranked Iga Swiatek eyeing her sixth Grand Slam singles title and No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka coming off a tournament win in Cincinnati.

Women’s U.S. Open

Sabalenka favored slightly

Aryna Sabalenka (+300) is favored to capture her first U.S. Open championship. While the 26-year-old Belarusian missed Wimbledon and the Olympics with a shoulder injury, she was back in top form in Cincinnati earlier this month, winning the title without dropping a set.

Sabalenka is 16-3 at Flushing Meadows over the past three years and made the final just last year. She’s also claimed the past two Australian Opens, proving she’s one of the best hard court players on planet earth.

Swiatek in a slump

Iga Swiatek (+310) won her fourth French Open title earlier this summer, but hasn’t been playing like the world No. 1 of late. Not only was she was upset by Qinwen Zheng (+2200) at the 2024 Olympics, she was crushed 6-3, 6-3 by Sabalenka in the Cincinnati semifinals.

With four of the top six seeds on her side of the bracket, the Polish tennis star could struggle to win her second U.S. Open singles title.

Gauff aims to repeat

Last year, Coco Gauff (+550) became the youngest American to win a Grand Slam singles championship since Serena Williams won the first of her 23 titles at the 1999 U.S. Open. But the 20-year-old hasn’t advanced to the quarterfinals in her last four events, including a fourth-round Wimbledon loss to Emma Navarro.

After double-faulting in losses in both Toronto and Cincinnati, Gauff’s mind may not be right. Yet, she’s one of the few who has proven she can beat Sabalenka on hard court after downing her 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in last year’s final.

Can Osaka return to form?

Naomi Osaka (+600) has surprisingly short odds considering she’s just 18-16 in 2024. That said, the two-time US Open champ and four-time Grand Slam winner has a 6-6 record against top-20 opponents since returning to the tour.

The 26-year-old Japanese star is also off to a fabulous start. After defeating No. 10 Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets on Tuesday, she’ll face 2023 U.S. Open semifinalist Karolina Muchova in the second round.

Best Bet

2024 Olympic gold medalist Qinwen Zheng (+2200) is a strong longshot after reaching her first Slam quarterfinal in New York last year.

However, after she dominated Swiatek and three other top-30 opponents in Cincinnati, we like Sabalenka (+300) to win her first U.S. Open title and third Grand Slam.
