2024 Women’s Singles Gold Winner

Swiatek dominant at Roland-Garros

Iga Swiatek (-175) destroyed Jasmine Paolini (+5000) in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) in this year’s French Open final, claiming her fourth title at Roland-Garros in five years. The world No. 1 suffered a close call in her second-round victory over Naomi Osaka, saving a match point, but only dropped 17 games for the remainder of the tournament.

While the 23-year-old was bounced in the third round at Wimbledon, Swiatek holds a 35-2 career record at Roland-Garros, including a current streak of 21 consecutive wins with three straight French Open championships.

Sabalenka out with injury

With Aryna Sabalenka out of the Paris Olympics with a shoulder injury, Coco Gauff (+550) probably has the best shot at defeating Swiatek. However, the 20-year-old just lost to her rival in the semi-finals at Roland-Garros. A 6-2, 6-4 defeat that was marred by a chair umpire’s ruling early in the second set.

The 2023 US Open champion was eliminated in the fourth round at Wimbledon. But, she’s better on clay than grass. Gauff captured her first major doubles title at the 2024 French Open.

Gold medal longshots

Elena Rybakina (+1000) has never advanced to the semi-finals at Roland-Garros. The 2022 Wimbledon champion and current world No. 4 was upset in the French Open quarterfinals by Paolini, who also downed Mirra Andreeva (+1600) in the semifinals. Marketa Vondrousova (+1400) made a quarterfinal exit, losing 6-0, 6-2 to Swiatek.

Ons Jabeur (+2000) has made two-straight quarterfinals in Paris, most recently losing to Gauff in three sets. Karolina Muchova (+2500) missed this year’s French Open with a wrist injury and has barely played in 2024. But the Czech forced Swiatek to three sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) in Paris in 2023.

Best Longshots

Barbora Krejcikova (+3300) just picked up her second Grand Slam trophy with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Jasmine Paolini in the final at the All England Club. The 28-year-old from the Czech Republic won the French Open in 2021 but has since made three-straight first round exits at the tournament.

Jasmine Paolini (+5000) is for real. After making the finals at Roland-Garros, the 28-year-old became the first Italian woman to ever reach the Wimbledon final. With her confidence sky high heading into the Paris Olympics, she has another chance to make history.
