The 2024 MotoGP season returned from its summer break in early August with the British Grand Prix. Enea Bastianini, who entered the event without a win in 2024, had +1200 betting odds to win the event, picked up his first victory of the year, beating this season’s top riders, Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia. However, in the most recent race, the Austrian Grand Prix, a more familiar face stood at the top of the podium. That rider was Bagnaia, who picked up his seventh victory of the 2024 MotoGP season, Martin finished in second place, and Bastianini came in third. This weekend, the riders are in Spain for the 2024 edition of the Aragon GP.

MotorLand Aragon is a 5.08 km course with seven right corners and 10 lefts. The longest straightaway on the track is 968 meters and the total width of the course is 15 meters. Bagnaia has the all-time lap record and best pole time on the MotorLand Aragon at 1:46:069 in 2022. 2022 also saw the best race lap, which Luca Marini set at 1:47:795. The best speed on the course was also set in 2022 when Bagnaia hit 354.1 km/hr.

2024 Aragon GP betting picks

Francesco Bagnaia

After a somewhat slow start in the early weeks of the 2024 MotoGP season, the 2022 and 2023 MotoGP world champion, Francesco Bagnaia, is dominating and looks like he could be on his way to a third straight MotoGP world championship. The 27-year-old opened the year with a win in Qatar, but then did not finish in Portugal. He then placed fifth in America. After that, Bagnaia went on a roll, winning four straight MotoGP races before placing third in the British GP, he was back on top in Austria.

Bagnaia has performed well at the Austrian GP. He has four starts on the course since joining the MotoGP ranks. In his two most recent races, Bagnaia placed first (2021) and second (2022).

Bagnaia is back in the points lead following the Austrian GP. With 275 points, he leads Jorge Martin by five points as the 2024 MotoGP season reaches the home stretch.

Jorge Martin

With a runner-up finish in the British GP, Jorge Martin took back the lead of the 2024 MotoGP points standings. However, he could not hold onto that lead long, as his runner-up finish in Austria, where he started on the pole, dropped him back to second place in the standings behind the defending champ, Bagnaia. Martin finished the 2023 MotoGP season in second place after placing ninth in the previous two years.

Known for his aggressive approach on every course, the 26-year-old Martin, has started twice at Aragon as a MotoGP rider. In 2021 he placed ninth. The following year he improved to sixth on the course.

Martin has two wins in 2024, four runner-up finishes, and two third-place finishes. He has not finished two races this season. Martin needs a good showing at Aragon if he hopes to stay in the points race with Bagnaia.

Marc Marquez

Heading into the 2024 MotoGP season, the biggest concerns for the legendary Marc Marquez were his health and how he would perform with his new team. After 11 years with Honda, the 30-year-old is now on a Ducati for Gresini Racing. As for his health, Marquez has started all nine MotoGP races in 2024, and outside of not finishing in America, placing 16th in Portugal, and finishing in 10th in the Netherlands, Marquez has been among the top four finishers in his other five starts during the 2024 MotoGP season.

Marquez is still looking for his first win of 2024. The last time Marquez won a MotoGP race was in 2021, when he placed first three times before finishing the year in the No. 7 spot in the standings. He has finished as the runner-up three times this year. He is coming off a fourth-place finishes at the British GP and Austrian GP.

Marquez was dominant on this course for a few years, winning five times between 2013 and 2019. Since then, he has two starts at Aragon, placing second in 2021 and not finishing the race in 2022.

Marquez is in fourth place in the standings heading into this weekend’s MotoGP race.

Best bet to win the 2024 Aragon Grand Prix

With how he has performed on this course, Francesco Bagnaia deserves to be the betting favorite, however, hisodds don’t present much betting value. If you’re looking for a rider to consider other than the reigning champ, consider Marc Marquez, who has an excellent history on this track.

The betting pick is Marc Marquez to win his first race of the 2024 MotoGP season with a victory at the Aragon GP.
