Teenage sensation Luke Littler is being given the top seed, entering the 2024 World Series of Darts Finals. However it’s Luke Humphries that oddsmakers are staking as the slight favorite to win the competition.

This will be the 10th staging of the World Series of Darts. The event brings together 32 of the top players on the planet.

Humphries is set as the +300 chalk in the opening World Series of Darts betting line. You can get +350 odds if you choose to back Littler to win it all. The World Series of Darts is slated to be contested from September 13-15 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

How World Series Of Darts Works

The field includes eight players who are seeded 1-8 based upon their Professional Darts Corporation rankings. Three other unseeded players are also getting an invitation via their PDC performance.

An additional nine players were earning their World Series of Darts spots via World Series Order of Merit Qualifiers. Four more players are getting the field based upon PDC Order of Merit Qualifiers. Rounding out the 32-player entries are eight players that are gaining entry via Tour Card Holder Qualifiers.

They will all compete in single-elimination knockout competition. The first and second rounds will be best-of-11 legs. Quarter-final matches are set as best-of-19 affairs, while both the semifinals and final match are being contested as best-of-21 legs.

Littler A Teen Sensation

It’s been a stunning breakout season for Littler, the 17-year-old from Warrington, England. He’s already been a winner of World Series titles this year in Bahrain and Poland.

Littler is the youngest player to be a winner of a match in both the WDF World Darts Championship and PDC World Darts Championship. Doing so at 16, he’s the youngest player to reach the PDC World Darts Championship final.

He is the current Premier League Darts champion and the current Junior and World Youth Champion. Littler is also reigning Belgian and Austrian Darts Open champion.

Humphries Reigning World Champion

He’s the other top contender going by the given name of Luke. Humphries is coming by his status as favorite in this competition on merit. He’s the reigning world champion. He’s also the holder of the world’s No. 1 ranking.

Cool Hand Luke, as he’s known, is also the current World Grand Prix champion and Grand Slam champion. He also holds the Players Championship Finals champion, and the World Matchplay Champion titles.

He’s coming into the World Series of Darts as the No. 4 seed. However, Humphries is also arriving following a recent triumph in the New Zealand Masters.

Tough Road Ahead For Defending Champ

If van Gerwen is going to be defending his World Series of Darts title, he’s certainly going to be earning it. He’s got the toughest route through the draw of any of the top contenders for the crown.

For starters, the Dutch player will be clashing with 2021 World Series of Darts champion Jonny Clayton in his opening match. Should the form charts hold, a quarter-final match against Humphries will be waiting for him. If van Gerwen succeeds there, his likely semifinal match would be against Littler.

At the same time, van Gerwen will be needing to overcome his own struggles. He’s now gone more than 200 days since his most recent tournament victory. The No. 1-ranked player in the world from 2014-21, currently, van Gerwen is currently third overall in the world rankings.

Word Series Of Darts Best Bet

Last month was a strange one for Littler. For the first time all season, he went a calendar month without winning a tournament. Still, even though he lost in the final of the German Darts Championship, Littler threw his second record 180 score at a Euro Tour event.

Just a year ago, he was ranked No. 124 in the world. His climb to the top has proven to be astronomical and nothing seems to faze the youngster. He looks all set to add to his ever-growing legend by capturing the World Series of Darts title.
