2024 Singapore Grand Prix

Norris favored at Marina Bay Circuit

Lando Norris (+175) is favored to pick up his third-career win on Sunday, just ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri (+350) and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (+350). Piastri blew past Leclerc on the first corner of lap 20 during Sunday’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix and fended off Ferrari the rest of the way for his second-career victory.

For Leclerc, it was the fourth-straight year he couldn’t capitalize on capturing pole position at the Baku street circuit. Meanwhile, Norris managed to finish sixth, rebounding from being 15th on the starting grid.

Maxed out?

Max Verstappen (+1000) placed fifth at the Azerbaijan GP, and could be heard on the radio complaining about braking issues and his car having “zero bite”. Winless in seven races, the Dutchman still maintains a 59-point edge in his chase to win a fourth-straight drivers’ championship.

However, the 26-year-old has never won the Singapore Grand Prix. A physically-demanding, bumpy street course like the Marina Bay Circuit is probably not the place for Red Bull’s struggling driver to get back on track.

What happened to Mercedes?

George Russell (+1600) grabbed the final spot on the podium on Sunday and Lewis Hamilton (+1600) placed ninth. The Mercedes team has been ice cold since coming out of summer break. But they can’t be counted out in an F1 season that’s already seen seven different drivers pick up wins.

Lucky longshots?

Sergio Perez (+3300) has gone winless all season and hasn’t been on the podium since April. But, he was challenging Carlos Sainz (+700) for second when the two collided during the Azerbaijan GP. The Mexican driver has also traditionally done well on street circuits like Baku.

Sainz and Perez have each won in Singapore over the past two years. With Ferrari’s performance of late, Sainz could repeat this year.

Best Bet

Lando Norris (+175) and Oscar Piastri (+350) have won three of the past five Formula 1 events. Spreading some money on both McLaren drivers could be a winning strategy for the season’s final seven races.
