With 14 weeks of the 2023 NFL season behind us, it’s time to look at which player will score the most rushing touchdowns this year. With the season winding down, the race appears to be between three players: the Miami Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert, the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, and San Francisco 49er Christian McCaffrey.

Last year, Jamaal Williams scored 17 rushing TDs while playing for the Detroit Lions to lead the league. Three players, Austin Ekeler, Jalen Hurts, and Derrick Henry, were tied for second, with each crossing the goal line 13 times. The all-time season record for rushing touchdowns, which is no danger of being broken in 2023, is held by LaDainian Tomlinson, who scored 28 in 2006 for the San Diego Chargers.

Most Rushing Touchdown 2023 NFL Regular Season props

Raheem Mostert

Before 2023, the most rushing touchdowns Raheem Mostert scored in a season was eight, which he achieved in 2019 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. The 31-year-old moved to the Miami Dolphins in 2022, where he scored three touchdowns. In 13 games this year, Mostert has already crushed his previous career high, scoring 16 touchdowns for the Dolphins. With 924 rushing yards, Mostert has also set a career-high in that category. The season Mostert has put together earned him $1 million in contract incentives this season.

Mostert is tied for the Dolphins’ single-season rushing touchdown record of 16, which Ricky Williams set in 2002.

Christian McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey is on pace to set career-best numbers in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in 2023. McCaffrey, the first-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2017, joined the San Francisco 49ers early in the 2022 NFL season. Last year, McCaffrey scored a combined eight rushing touchdowns for his teams; this year, the 27-year-old has 12 rushing touchdowns through 13 games for San Francisco, which is the single-season record for the franchise.

McCaffrey is still three rushing touchdowns away from his career high of 15, which he set in 2019 for Carolina, while racking up 1,387 yards. McCaffrey is currently at 1,177 rushing yards in 2023.

Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts scored 10 rushing touchdowns in 2021. Last year, he set a career-high in that stat with 13. In 13 games played this season, Hurts has already scored 12 rushing touchdowns. If Hurts keeps up the pace he is on this season and can play in the rest of the Eagles’ games, the 25-year-old QB can set a franchise record in rushing touchdowns. LeSean McCoy holds the current record with 17 rushing touchdowns in 2011.

2023 NFL regular season rushing touchdowns leader best bets

The well-traveled Raheem Mostert was a surprise early in the season when he took the lead for most rushing touchdowns. As the season has progressed, Mostert, who has played for seven teams since he went undrafted out of Purdue in 2015, is no longer a surprise. Entering Week 15 of the 2023 season, he has four more touchdowns than the players tied for second in that stat, and if he remains healthy, Mostert will finish the season tops in that category
