The interactive exhibit — opened in 2016 by Victory Hill Exhibitions — allows guests to take on virtual reality missions, solve puzzles, and complete challenges alongside Captain America, Iron Man, The Hunk, and other Marvel universe characters, as well as to view original props and costumes from the Marvel film franchise.

The demise of Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) was first reported on Dec. 16 by Scott Roeben on Casino.org’s own Vital Vegas blog.

Treasure Island owner Phil Ruffin — who bought the casino resort from MGM Mirage (now MGM Resorts International) for $755M in 2009 — told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in November that it was considering a pirate show featuring holograms or animatronics. And Roeben’s sources report that Victory Hill, which will retain the lease, is planning just such a show for its Marvel space.

While the closure of any Las Vegas attraction always indicates financial underperformance, for an attraction saddled with a huge licensing fee — such as Marvel Entertainment undoubtedly charges — it doesn’t take much of an audience dip to underperform.

Kid Stuff

Though the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority’s current crop of funny TV commercials encourage Las Vegas tourists with children to leave them at home, plenty of activities on or near the Strip are still guaranteed keep the underage set entertained.

These include the rides at Circus Circus Adventuredome and atop the STRAT, Vegas Superkarts, New York-New York’s roller coaster, the Arcade at Horseshoe, Vegas Indoor Skydiving, the Discovery Children’s Museum, the Arcade at Horseshow, and a number of children’s theater shows.

Area15 — the off-Strip experiential retail, art, and entertainment complex — is open to all ages until 9 p.m., when visitors must be 21 or older to enter.

And don’t forget the professional football, hockey, and women’s basketball games.

If you notice that we didn’t mention the Hunger Games exhibition at the MGM Grand, that’s because, according to Vital Vegas, it will close in March 2024.
